Cabane Danos

Cabin I, the middle cabin, built in 1998

Sleeps 5 · Queen + loft · 3 beds · 1 bath · 20′ × 24′

From $130 a night · $900 a week · two-night minimum usually applies

The first of the Cajun Cabins, built in 1998 and named after Harvey Danos, Dennis’s old friend and lead carpenter, who inspired him to build it. It sits in the middle of the three, a few steps from the wharf.

Downstairs there’s a queen bed with a unique hand-made cypress-driftwood headboard, an open living area with a gas-log fireplace, and a full kitchen and bath. Up in the small loft are a double and a twin bed.

Please note: the loft is reached by a ladder stair only, so it may not suit young children or guests who’d rather not climb.

Comparing cabins? La Belle Rose has a real stairway and built-in bunks. Bayou Retreat has the biggest loft.
